One Word, One Prayer #10

Here we are week #10! Last week was the start of March Madness and the boyfriend, some friends and I spent the weekend in Las Vegas. I will be sharing soon about our fun and exciting trip! The first few days of the week I had a word that has kept coming to mind. The word for the week is SOAR! I am a special education teacher and I always hope that we can transition students from an environment where they are receiving specialized instruction to a 504 which is where the student is still able to receive accommodations in the classroom setting. I had a meeting with one of my students on my caseload and we as a team have seen a HUGE improvement in her school setting grades and behavior so it was discussed to switch her to a 504. I then said it was time to spread her wings and soar. I just feel like this is the word for the week. I also have a WONDERFUL  teacher friend  I work with that will be switching schools next year. She is slowly letting the people she cares about most know about the change. I am so excited to see her SOAR and to help lift her up so that she can SOAR. This week I will be praying and thinking about the word SOAR!

If you have a word for the week please leave it in the comments section.

One Word, One Prayer #9

This week as I get back into the school/work routine I have found that I am SUPER tired. I had planned for my word this week to be relationships but as I sit here and write this post I am being lead to focus on another word for the week. Today when I began to feel run down the word ALIVE came to mind. This then leads me to think man am I thankful I am alive everyday that has been gifted to me. While I sat quietly thinking about the word alive a story of an event that happened this weekend pops into my mind. In order to understand the full story I will have to start with last Wednesday. As you may know it is now the season of Lent in the Lutheran church. I was raised in a family that we would attend Wednesday night Lenten services and enjoy soup and fellowship before church. When I walked into church last Wednesday I saw a wall with very pretty brightly colored cards. So I walked over and read what the instructions said to do. It stated that you were to write down a prayer request you may have and then take one for you to pray for over the course of the week.  I have had a thought on my heart for a while so I decided to let it go and give it to someone else to pray about and think over for the upcoming week. As I left my prayer I took a different one to pray about for the week When I read the back of the card I thought well we all have been praying for this family. The family that I have been praying for this week has a son that is close to my age. The family suddenly lost the husband and father of the family within that last few weeks. So I have been praying and thinking about this family as I go to bed at night. On Sunday after church I decided to go to a local coffee shop and pick up a coffee where I ran into the wife and mother of the family that I have been praying for. When I saw her all I could think was give her a hug and let he know that God has bigger plans. I know currently it is so hard for her and her family to comprehend the loss of their family but I just felt like I was placed there to encourage her to stay ALIVE! So this week as I pray for the loss of this family I will also be thinging and praying over the word alive. I pray that she can find peace and comfort in the Lord and knowing that she needs to continue to live for her children.

One Word, One Prayer #8

Here we are a week later then planned. Last week was SUPER crazy for me as it was the week before Spring Break. For word #8 I have decided to spend 2 weeks in thought over the word because it is so powerful and applicable currently in my life. This week and last week I am in prayer and thinking about the word GROW. I have taken on the role of facilitator with a small group through my church that will be following “The Daniel Plan.” A few weeks ago I thought and prayed about the word leadership and after that week decided to say yes to the calling of becoming the “leader” of a small group. I LOVE to cook and I am a teacher in my everyday job. I felt like this was a great way to share a gift I have and grow as a leader in the community that I serve and worship in. I have been praying for the members of my group and I am so excited to share new ideas and participate in the faith and friends aspect of the plan. I decided to focus on this word for two weeks because I am also hoping to GROW my blog and business. After meeting with a blogger that I look up to greatly and follow daily,  I feel like I have some clear set goals in which I would like to meet by the end of the summer both that have to do with my business and my blogging. I love having this outlet to share my feelings and thoughts on specific topics. I will continue to think and pray over the word grow for the remainder of the week. This week is my Spring Break I will be participating in a fun crafting class and also visiting my sister who is expecting in Flagstaff this week. I will also be celebrating my 29th birthday the end of this week. I was in need of a break from the day to day tasks of teaching.
